Light Reflectance Value (LRV)

Recent changes in some state safety laws have set a lower limit on the lightness of the bottom and walls of public pools. The motivation is that the bottom and sides must be light enough to allow lifeguards and others to see all areas of the pool well, and be able to react quickly should there be a problem. The metric used is Light Reflectance Value, or LRV. We have developed measurement techniques to quantify both the wet and dry LRV of potential pool wall materials, and the measurements comply with current Florida Building Code.
